#6 The Interview

Today, i'm very proud to share with you this interview. During my internship, i had to create lots of advertisings. So my boss hired Krataai, a young and wonderful
designer from Chiang Mai (North of Thailand).

We are two hard workers, so we did a very good job during those two weeks of work in January.

Now, we became very good friends since our first meeting, so that was easy and funny for us to do this interview! :)

FYI : i decide to let this article in English because first, i had to do some articles in this language, secondly, because we did it in English and i want to show also that thai educated people have very strong skills in English.

Chiang Mai, chez Krataai !

- Hello Krataai, how are you?

I’m fine, thank you !

Thanks for taking time to answer to my questions.
Krataai is not your real name, right?

Exactly! My name is Laddawan Somkaew.

(In Thailand, people are used to choose a kind of nickname, because generally, their names are too long and complicated to pronounce.

- I want to know first which studies you did?

I got a diploma degree.

Can you tell me more about this studies then?

I was studying Computer hardware and software, all about design and graphism.

- You're just doing some jobs for the company Kameleon, you aren't an employee, right?

That's right. I was an employee in one company at Udon Thani Province, it’s in the North east of Thailand. I was working with this company for 7 years, now I left to think about new projects.

So where and how did you find this opportunity?
My boss met me in one company before and later he asked me to work with him and i accepted.

For Kameleon company, that was exactly the same. That was an opportunity, i found it during a meeting, professional network you know ;)

- Can you explain what is your job?

My job is about creating advertising, printing and cutting …. such as Vinyl inkjet, Sticker, Cutout, Banner, Acrylic , Alu Carbon and Etc. I'm in a very specific branch of design.

What do you have to do precisely?
It’s about design and only design because I’m a designer ^^ The companies ask me for something they want, and i create that for them.

The different skills required?

Yes, I have to be able to control machines such as inkjet printer, cutting machine, laser machine.
I have to be very creative and innovative, listen to my customers and adapt myself to their requests.

- Do you work for yourself?

Is it a busy market?
I mean are there lots of graphists here in Thailand so hard to find a job, or is it easy to find a job in this sector?I think it’s easy to find this job if you have skills and good ideas. You just have to be on the right place at the right moment, or be a little bit smart and you can find what you want.

- We worked together, we mainly created seven differents advertisings, so i have one question about that : is it hard to work with french guys?

Hahaha, No, not hard just our problem is the language….and my english is so bad.

No! That's wrong! Your english is better than mine :) but is there a big different in the way of working?
No I don’t think so, it’s same as when I work with thai people, even more better with you!

- Last question for you Krataai : to finish, do you love this job?

Yes I do! Of course i am. :)

Are you going to continue to exercise this job even for a long time?

Exactly, now I have some plans for my future and it will be my own business!

Bon appétit :) !
